Procedure

1. Send an email with information about your idea and brand name to info@lioc.nl with in the subjectline: “Startup IP Voucher”

2. Based on the information provided, LIOC assesses wheter your idea may qualify for patent protection and wheter the trademark registration is feasible. For trademark protection we will do a Trademark Check for which you will receive our report.

3. If the first estimate is positive, an introductory meeting with LIOC will take place in which the procedure will be discussed further.

4. LIOC determines whether you qualify for the Startup IP Voucher based on the outcome of the meeting. Only a limited number of vouchers are available per year.

If qualified for the STARTUP IP VOUCHER:

6. LIOC requests further information to be provided. See “Required Information” below.

7. After receiving the necessary information, LIOC will take care of:
a) preparing a draft patent application
b) preparing and filing the trademark registration

8. After apporval of the draft patent application, LIOC will submit the patent application as a Dutch patent application. The idea can now be made public and the term ‘patent pending’ can be used. Read our blog for more information on this subject.

9. A novelty search is conducted by the Patent Office. The results will be sent to you by LIOC (+/- 9 months after filing)

10. LIOC advises on the filing of your application abroad (deadline is 12 months after filing)

11. The patent is granted and published. LIOC sends you the patent certificate (+/-18 months after filing)

12. LIOC reminds you of the maintenance fee due in the Netherlands (3 years after filing). Youw ill receive a quote.
