Arie studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente (the Netherlands), where he graduated in the field of digital image processing, a discipline that was rapidly emerging at the time.
After completing his studies, Arie worked in industrial automation, where he was involved in the development of various microprocessor-controlled solutions. He later joined Holec, where he held several positions focused on the development of control systems for high-power semiconductor switched-mode power supplies.
After many years of developing technical solutions himself, Arie was given the opportunity to specialize in intellectual property. After first working as a patent engineer and patent information specialist at Holec, KPN, and TNO, Arie was able to pursue training as a patent attorney.
Now a qualified Dutch and European patent attorney, Arie has been working in private practice since 2006 on the protection of inventions in fields including telecommunications, electronics and software, chemical processes, and physical and mechanical engineering applications, including high-end 3D printers.
Arie has a strong passion for technology and enjoys working closely with his clients to identify the most effective protection strategies for their inventions.
In addition, Arie is highly skilled in patent literature searching, which is particularly valuable when assessing whether an invention is novel or whether there may be competing patents for a product you intend to bring to market.
